Stamping kits, whether you buy the higher end Konad, the middle end Salon Express, or just a simple cheap stamper with a couple of plates and get the rest of the plates from online stores, nail stamping is an inexpensive and fun way to learn a new technique for your own look of nail designs.
Creating decorative designs on nails is not always easy and requires a lot of professionalism and creativity especially if you are planning on some intricate designs. A well done art can brighten up your overall appearance and complement your outfit to a great extent. Nail arts designing can vary from subtle and delicate designs to bold and funky designs. Nails art requires certain basic steps to be followed to get the application perfectly. Before you start with nail designing, make sure you clean and shape up your nails properly. Trimming your nails and filing them is necessary to get the best result. Even the best of the artists cannot create beautiful designs on your nails if they are in a bad shape and not well kept. You can also consider using acrylic nails if your nails are in a real bad shape and beyond repair. The nail art design can then be painted over these artificial acrylics.
The essentials are: a base coat (to prevent nail discolouration and allow your nail polish to glide on smoothly), nail polish, and a top coat (to ensure your manicure lasts for more than a day). I like to use a quick drying top coat cos that saves oodles of time and is so convenient to use, but it`s also good to have a normal top coat or clear polish in hand for certain more complex nail designs. After trying loads of different brands, I`ve found that it`s so important to invest in good quality nail polish. These are more expensive but they`re worth it cos they last longer, dry faster and don`t get lumpy. I`ve had such bad experiences with cheap nail polish that now I`m just sticking to brands that I`ve used before (and like) and reputable brands. Orly, OPI, China Glaze, Sally Hansen and Essie are some of the good ones. It`s also a good idea to test out polish from a brand you`ve not tried before buying it.
Nails art designs can be created using different methods. Novices mostly prefer to create their designs by copying them from nail art books or seeing them on the Internet. One can also learn nail arts through courses offered by some professional nail salons. However, even if you possess minimal artistic capability, you can create simple easy floral designs or geometric shapes which do not require high end training. While much of the nail art designs use a combination of nail polish colors, one can also add some glitter into the nail polish before painting to jazz up your nails. The use of other nails art accessories like rhinestones, acrylic stones, 3D nail stickers, ceramic flowers, fimo art pieces, crushed shells, etc to name a few are also being widely used to highlight the nails and give them a more sophisticated look.
Many decorative gems, foils, tiny flowers and other such accessories are available in market which can be used to give nail art a three dimensional look. Earlier nail paints were available with stars and glitters floating in them. But now a days such materials are available separately. apply a small amount of nail art sealer on nail first. Then pour out some decorative items on a plate. Now pick up desired items with the help of a tweezer or a manicure stick. Then place on the nail carefully and put little pressure on it. Let it dry.
Nail dotters help create dot and circle patterns. I use these all the time to create simple polka dot designs. They come in a variety of sizes. Starting out, it`ll be good to get your hands on one that has a medium sized round nib on one end and a small one on the other so you can choose the size of the dots you want to create. HOW TO USE: Find a plastic sheet and drop a few blobs of nail polish onto it. I like to use name cards that are hard and feel a bit plasticky for this cos they`re small and disposable. Dip the round nib of your dotter into the polish. Try doing a few dots on the sheet/name card till you get the right size and consistency that you want. Do the same onto the surface of your nail. Be careful not to use too much pressure, that may cause the dots to look deformed. Remember to clean them after use and dry thoroughly. These tools are made of metal and susceptible to rusting.
